Hi!

My name is Aly. I am a Spanish tutor based in the Portland/Vancouver area. I am originally from Peru. I graduated from University of Lima with a B.A. in Business. I moved to the US in 2000. Although I have worked in other professions since then, I always found myself tutoring Spanish in my free time. So when I finally moved to Portland, I decided to make it my full-time job. I am happy to have found my passion and share my knowledge and experience with my students.

I love teaching Spanish. I enjoy explaining it, analyzing it, and making connections to English, so students will remember grammar structures and vocabulary. It is very rewarding for me to see students mastering concepts and start using them more often. Besides, it gives me the opportunity to meet amazing people who are in love with the Spanish language and the Latin American and Spanish cultures.

I have experience working with children and adults. I am very patient and work well with beginners, engaging them in the adventure of learning a new language. I also work well with advanced students who are more interested in conversation and refining their grammar, reading, and writing skills.

When I am not working, I enjoy going for hikes or walks. There is so much to explore and admire in the NW! I also enjoy learning to play piano, and I think I am officially and advanced knitter now.
